Misery Loves Company

surround yourself with people who lift you higher, misery loves company

"Start allowing the sunshine into your life..."

I keep hearing the phrase "Misery Loves Company" over and over in my head today.  It is a reminder to me of how far I have come, and how I choose not to live in misery any longer!  It truly is a choice.

When we are not ready to change, we find others who are just as miserable as we are, so that they can join in the sea of complaints.  Even if you don't think you seek out these people, you are definitely attracting them (consciously or unconsciously) just by your thoughts and vibration!  We justify our misery, and why things are the way they are.  Usually it's from some external source (of course it's not ME, right?).  We attract others who will "buy into our story" of misery.  We gossip, we complain, we are the victims of our own lives.

For me, it started as an unconscious decision to change this pattern in my life...and it has become a conscious decision now.  I have chosen to surround myself with people who make me feel good, and who allow my light to shine bright...for I have come to accept the beautiful light that I am!  It took me many years to get to this place of acceptance and gratitude...but I finally made it.  I am here...I am present in my life.

No more excuses, no more gossip, no more complaints, no more "if only..."!  It truly IS all about ME!  My choices, my words, my thoughts, my actions!  It has nothing to do with what someone else is or isn't doing for me or to me.  I can be happy regardless of any external circumstances - this is the truth.

As I reflect back on the past few years, I can see how true this statement was in my life - misery truly does like company.  I was the victim, and everyone else was doing something to me.  I said I was a positive thinker, however my actions, thoughts and words were not in alignment with this.  I attracted more and more circumstances into my life in which to complain about.

I have let go of my misery, and I invite you to do the same!  It is such a freeing feeling to truly let go, and allow room for all the happy things in life!  I can say now that I truly enjoy life!  (Even when things are exactly "going my way.")

Who is it in your life who allows you to stay in this "down" place?  This place of complaining and rationalizing?  As you raise your energy/vibration, you attract others of that higher vibration into your life.  Start allowing the sunshine into your life by letting go of that old yucky energy.  You don't need it anymore!  Ask yourself this question, "How does complaining/gossiping/rationalizing serve me in my life?"  If it is not a positive feeling that you get as you answer this question, you know you need to embrace some kind of action to change this in your life.  Complaints and gossip are a lower vibration, and every time we engage in those thoughts and words we are lowering our vibration, and welcoming more circumstances into our lives in which to complain about.  It is a yucky cycle.  You truly have the power to stop this cycle!

Only you are in charge of your thoughts, words, and actions.  You can not change anyone but you!  Be present in your life, and embrace all the beautiful things around you, regardless of what is going on (good, bad, or indifferent).  Be present.  ♥

I kept hearing "misery loves company" today because we need to be reminded to live in our joy!  Let go of all that stuff or people who hold you in that place of misery.  You are a bright light, so go out in the world and shine.  You are so loved!

I end this post with this song:  It's My Life - Bon Jovi

Love, Light, Peace, & Joy Always!
♥ Beth

  1. I read this when you first posted and I have read it again and again. It is so true, and as I go through this situation I am in…I know I cannot exist in my own personal bubble but some days, if I could, I would dig a hole and crawl in it!

    • Awww, thank you Janene…I am so glad to hear that this has touched you in a profound way. You are so, so, so loved! Go out and shine bright for the world so that all can see that beautiful smile {and soul} of yours! xoxo Beth
