If you are looking for an uplifting book that will make you feel good about life - Life Is Short, Wear Your Party Pants is a great choice! It is written by Loretta LaRoche. She also wrote another book that is sure to make you giggle and smile, Kick Up Your Heels...Before You're Too Short To Wear Them: How to Live a Long, Healthy, Juicy Life.
How often do we just let loose, put on our party pants? Probably not often enough! I know that it has been years since I have! Here was my path: graduate college, become a teacher, get married, have a kid, be a Mom. Hmmm...somewhere I got lost in there. Or I should say...I allowed myself to get lost in there. In the last couple of months I have begun to rediscover Beth! Not a student, teacher, wife, or Mom - but just Beth. I have started to take the time to have my own thoughts, and get out of the house just to enjoy the sights and sounds around me. I've been enjoying some wonderful live music with friends, and you can't forget a glass of wine (after all, I do live in wine country). ;o) It has been a great joy in my life to re-discover what the world has to offer out there. =)
I'm not saying it's easy...after all, I have been staying home with the kiddo for the last 3.5 years with hardly a social life to speak of. Sometimes it's hard to get in the mental space to get dressed up to leave the house after dark. (Yep, feeling old about now, lol!)
But, thanks to a supportive husband, who understands how important it is to have "me" time....he pushes me out the door sometimes. ;o) Just the other night I didn't feel like going out, but some girlfriends were going out for some live music. My husband said, "Just go, you'll have fun once you get there!" So, I did....and I ended up having my picture taken with the lead singer...of the band that is associated with the band Warrant (the lead guitarist of Warrant was there playing that night)! Anyone know the song "Cherry Pie"? Yep, that's them. I am enjoying some pretty awesome experiences since moving to CA...and fraternizing with famous people, lol! But, I wouldn't be able to say that if I weren't actually leaving my house, lol! So, I encourage you this week/weekend... put on your party pants, and go do something that you will enjoy! Maybe something you haven't done in a really long time! =)
